On February 18, 2026, Garmin started rolling out System Software 21.25 to the Enduro 3, Fenix 8 (AMOLED and Solar), Fenix 8 Pro, Fenix E, and Tactix 8. This is the first major stable update in months, replacing the previous 20.29 firmware — and it's a big one. Nearly two dozen new features, improvements, and bug fixes, all born out of months of beta testing.
Let's dig in.
Four New Glances
The headliner here is easily the new Battery Manager glance. This one gives you a detailed 14-day breakdown of what's actually eating your battery — GPS, display, heart rate sensor, all of it. If you've ever wondered why your Enduro 3 or Fenix 8 drained faster than expected after a weekend of activities, this is the glance that finally answers that question. It's been one of the most requested features in the community, and honestly, it's about time.
On top of that, there are three more new glances: a Sports Team Tracker for following live scores, a Weight Tracking glance that syncs with Garmin Connect, and a Health Behaviours glance that visualizes how your daily habits — sleep, stress, activity levels — affect specific health metrics over time.
Training and Activity Updates
Garmin has added new training plans focused on timed workouts, cardio sessions, and optional strength workouts. This brings the Fenix 8 and Enduro 3 more in line with the training tools already available on the Forerunner 970 and Venu X1 — so if you've been a bit jealous of those platforms, this closes the gap nicely.
There's also a new Mixed Session activity mode that lets you record multiple sports in a row within a single activity. Think HYROX-style events or just those days where you run, lift, and row all in one go. Super handy.
On the more subtle side, training guidance now factors in recent dives, which is a neat touch for the multisport crowd who alternate between underwater and land-based activities. And pace responsiveness has been improved, so you should see faster and more accurate real-time pace data during runs and other activities.
Sleep and Health
The sleep glance picks up a nice addition: personalized insights that suggest your ideal bedtime and wake time based on your recovery data and personal patterns. It's not a game-changer on its own, but stacked on top of the existing Sleep Coach feature, it adds a bit more depth to the sleep tracking experience.
Quality of Life Improvements
A handful of smaller updates that add up to a noticeably better daily experience:
Voice alerts are now available in the watch settings, and you'll also get voice alerts when using a compatible Varia radar device — great for cyclists who want audible heads-ups about approaching vehicles.
Colour filters have been added to the display settings, improving accessibility and readability in different lighting conditions.
Smart notification delay lets you postpone notifications until after your activity is done. No more getting buzzed mid-interval by a group chat.
Additional alarm sounds — because the default Garmin beep was getting old.
Bug Fixes
This update squashes a solid handful of bugs that have been bugging people for a while:
Fixed a blank screen that could appear after accessing the music player during an activity
Fixed device resets when loading a course for indoor cycling
Fixed partial failures when using Wi-Fi for uploads
Fixed the wrong Garmin Coach cycling workout being loaded
Fixed Backcountry Ski post-activity summary not showing max speed or mileage
Fixed GPS acquisition issues in Connect IQ apps (Fenix 8 Pro only)
Fixed structured repeat changes not saving for the next interval workout
Updated translations across all supported languages
How to Update
Head to Settings → System → Software Update → Check for Updates on your watch. Or just enable automatic updates and sync through Garmin Connect or Garmin Express. The rollout started at 20% and is expanding — so if you don't see it yet, it should land on your wrist within a few days.
Bottom Line
System Software 21.25 is a solid update. The Battery Manager glance alone is worth the update for anyone who's been curious about what's happening under the hood with their battery life. The mixed-session activity mode is well-timed with the growing HYROX and multi-sport training trend, and the training plan additions bring the Enduro 3 and Fenix 8 platform closer to feature parity with Garmin's newer watches.
It's the kind of update that reminds you why Garmin's long-term software support is such a strong selling point — even months after launch, these watches keep getting meaningfully better.
